The Thirteenth Floor (1999)
Summer is pretty much over, but my consumption of media has not ceased. Like the season of the witch, it’s always the season of media consumption.
Released the same year as The Matrix, The Thirteenth Floor is also a meditation on the meaning of realities created by computer programs.
(ca.) April 28th-May 4th: The Colony Season 1-2 (2009-2010)
So… a reality series simulating a post-apocalyptic situation, in which a cross-section of american society are left to fend for themselves in the wasteland???
WELL HOLY SHIT WHY DID I NOT KNOW ABOUT THIS BEFORE.
Apocalypse World inspiration I have been taking from the show:
Red Tails is a Lucasfilm-backed feel-good action film about the Tuskegee Airmen in WWII. Overall, a mildly engaging film.
Kenji Kawai - Innocence (Soundtrack Ghost In The Shell 2)
Song starts at 0:56.
The conclusion to the Ghost in the Shell series was actually the first part of it I ever saw. Now that I’ve seen both films, the show, and made for tv movie I’ll put the series to bed until I can get my hands on the manga.
A few captions I made from some of the books you can find on the (really, really good) videogame, Quantum Conundrum.
Did you like Portal? Well they made a new one with a different name and it is very good, though not great.
Deux Ex: Human Revolution was a pleasant experience overall. My play style was full-stealth, except for the rocket launcher I carried for boss battles.
As a cyborg you get a lot of cool implants including social augmentations. Social augs allow you to read biometric emotional cues, then release tailor-made pheromones to manipulate people. Like cults, that qualifies as coolwrong.
That awkward moment when your history teacher is talking about Cold War and every time they mention heightened tensions between Russia and America
I chose Green, but I would have chosen Blue had I fully understood the ramifications.
I am disappointed that there was no romance conflict scene: Having chosen Sam Trainor early, I had no idea I was freezing out hunky Garrus. Now Commander Shepard wishes she could hip-thrust at Garrus, if only I wasn’t disassembled.
Still very pleased to have played this game.
Been marathoning The Colony. This guy. New hero.
The man pictured is John C, a computer scientist. He is the Savvyhead for the PCs’ Hardhold. He’s got a Workspace, has taken Bonefeel, and probably Oftener Right.
I’m on episode 8 and his accomplishments already include:
I watched the earlier standalone Catwoman movie starring Halle Berry, because of legitimate artistic reasons not just because Halle Berry is very attractive.
A mobster movie classic:
